Mortal Shell 2 Duality Stone — Location & Effect

Updated August 24, 2026 · Checked for the current launch build

Quick answer: The Duality Stone is a Combat Tarstone in a chest inside Ravaged Tomb, southeast of the Nochtean Gate Beacon in southwest Fainweald. It only fits Axatana and Axe & Dagger. Fully upgraded, standing light combos hit twice.

How to get it

  1. Reach southwest Fainweald and activate the Nochtean Gate Beacon.
  2. Go southeast, ride the elevator to the lower ruins, pull the gate lever, and enter the silver fog of Ravaged Tomb.
  3. Press the side-gate switch, push the released pillar onto the pressure plate, then open the bone chest by the stairs before the second gate.
  4. Equip Duality Stone on Axatana or Axe & Dagger only. Other melee weapons do not expose this Combat slot.

What it does

Temper levelReported light-combo effect
Level 1First attack in the standing light combo strikes twice.
Level 2First and second attacks strike twice.
Level 3The full standing light combo strikes twice.
Launch guides are consistent on one caveat: heavy attacks and running lights are not doubled. Duality Stone is a standing-combo DPS stone, not a universal damage aura.

That doubling also feeds Resolve faster on those two weapons, which is why Game8 calls it the best Combat stone for Axatana / Axe & Dagger. Pair it with a crit Support stone (Auspicious) or Grudge Stone if you are already on a fast melee kit.

Should you rush it?

Evidence: Location and effect text synthesize GameRant's Duality Stone section and Game8's Best Tarstones / Duality Stone pages. Reddit also places the dungeon next to the western Corrupted Gate / Nochtean Gate. Verified August 23, 2026; compatibility can change with patches.
